FHE

Hi,

I was recently called to be the FHE Co-Chair of my YSA ward and I need some ideas for FHE activities. Just some background, there are no "families" my co-chair, committee and I plan weekly activities for 30-50 people. I have been looking into service opportunities which have been harder than they should be to find. Please just throw out any and all FHE activities that you have participated in on a ward level- good, bad, or ugly.

Many thanks!

  1. Honestly, I can't remember many of my FHE activities, but there are lots of great ideas online.

Here's a Pinterest board with tons of ideas: http://www.pinterest.com/waxnoodleworld/ysa-fhe-ideas/.

    Here's a blog with lots more: http://fheforysa.blogspot.com/.

    And one last website: http://www.mormonshare.com/100-quick-and-easy-family-home-evening-activities#nochildren.

Sorry I'm not more helpful, but that's a start! :)

  3. My ward has ward FHE as well. But, I haven't been very good about attending. I did attend last week (they didn't have one this week because of the holiday weekend) and they hosted a corn hole tournament. Last semester I recall there being a movie night (which is technically a violation of copyright laws, so I don't advise it) and giant scrabble/boggle night (lots of pieces of full-sized paper with letters; everyone in groups grabbed a few and then you had a few minutes to make as many words as possible). I think there was a game night once, and I recall a combined FHE with another ward where we did ice breaker activities. Oh, they did something cool last month where they had the ward Family History reps be in charge and they had everyone bring a family recipe and a family story to share.

We had a smaller group in Georgia, but here are some of the things there. We did lot of party games. I remember playing taboo, catch phrase, pictionary, Uno, in the manner of the adverb, disco king, swedish twister and the animal sound game. We also did ping pong around the world tournament and four square. Oh, and once a month we would do less active visits, where we would have small groups visit and take treats and lists of upcoming activities to less actives in the area. And a few times we tried to get everyone signed up family search and do indexing. In Georgia, the activity, lesson and treats were delegated out (via a sign up sheet), so whoever signed up was in charge of it, which took a lot of pressure off of the FHE co-chairs.
